Race festival opens 3-day run at noon Thursday

Crews have closed a number of Charlotte’s uptown streets for the three-day Coca-Cola Speed Street festival. Road closures began about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The festival is held in conjunction with the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Organizers expect about 400,000 visitors to uptown during Speed Street. Roads will be reopened by 8 a.m. Sunday.
